A technical person wanting to do an MBA seems rather absurd for most of us but it appears that soon enough this will be very common fact like the bun and curry in Indian style. Today this trend is gaining momentum and is becoming a very viable option for the Techies. This need suffices from the fact that, to get into a managerial position in the corporate world, an MBA degree is a must. And this is driving the IT professionals to join the run to be an MBA.

One of the basic reasons for this is that, technical people generally lack in some abilities, which are necessary for group dynamism like soft communication skills, listening skills etc. Their social and behavioral skills need to be worked upon. They need to put their focus on interpersonal skills to actually be able to perform and manage the technical influx of their own and of the others in a group.

Nowadays the employers are indeed hiring people who have an MBA because they know that MBA professionals have well developed group mechanism skills added with emotional intelligence, which is one of the major factors which makes up an individuals emotional maturity and his personal skills to communicate with people. This leads to the fact that those IT professionals who hold an MBA degree have a better chance to get an IT job rather than those without one.

So in a way, doing an MBA after a course in IT will never be wasted time because there lays a good potential to acquire jobs in higher positions. But one thing should always be kept in mind, that you definitely need the technical expertise even if you excel at the managerial skills because just holding an MBA degree will not guarantee you a job. MBA is only a supplementary help to put all that tech matter properly into place and order for more profit. IT gives you the material and MBA gives you a guide to how to put it into a better profit making system.
